The IC-F8101 HF transceiver provides free voice, fax, email, and data communications with regional or worldwide coverage options. This device is user friendly and does not require advanced radio operator skills. Channels are automatically selected by the Automatic Link Establishment (ALE) system while the Selcall (selective calling) feature provides selective calling, phone call, message call, position call, status call, emergency call, and channel test call options. The IC-F8101 also provides 125W of RF output and has an incorporated test function to check the transceivers condition.
ALE (automatic link establishment) system automatically selects a suitable channel to establish a communication link; capabilities include ALE individual call, net call, sounding, and automatic message display (AMD). Provides interoperability with other 2G ALE manufactures compliant with the FED-STD-1045A ALE standard.
- Selcall provides CCIR493 based 4/6 digit open standard Selcalls to allow selective calling, phone calls, message calls, position calls, emergency calls and channel test calls
- The IC-F8101 is enclosed in a durable and sealed structure that meets IP54 water resistant standards
- Fanless design allows for 125 watts of RF output power at full duty cycle in voice mode for a maximum of five minute transmissions; and the optional CFU-F8100 external cooling fan ensures reliable full duty cycle data and voice mode operations for continuous transmit cycles
- The BITE (built-in test equipment) function allows users to check the transceivers condition; users can select from auto, logic, receiver, and transmitter test modes
- An administrator/user access feature allows administrators to limit which features users have access to on the IC-F8101, thus making the radio simple and straightforward for users to use; administrators can enter operating frequency, assign memory channels, and assign functions to function buttons
- Clear talk function uses the built-in DSP to separate signal from noise to give clearer audio at the touch of a button
- The IC-F8101 provides three types of mute functions--call squelch, S-meter squelch, and voice squelch
- The IC-F8101 can send current GPS position data to other stations showing position information, time, elevation, and course heading on the display when connected to an external GPS receiver
- A third party RapidM TC4 HF data modem module may be installed in the IC-F8101 to make it possible to send and receive HF emails using a PC
- Includes a USB port on the back of the unit for connection to a PC or to provide HF email and modulation input
- Multiple operating modes (SSB, AM, CW and data modes)
- 500 kHz to 29.9999 MHz general coverage receiver (TX: 1.6 MHz to 29.9999 MHz) and VFO mode operation
- 500 Selcall, 500 ALE address memories
- 0.3ppm frequency stability (-30C to 60C)
- TX power protection (PA unit high temperature, high SWR, low battery)
- Display mode: SWR, voltage, clock, GPS position, direction and elevation
