Description

The Dukane DK120-90 is a battery operated underwater acoustic beacon, or pinger, that activates when its water switch is immersed in fresh or salt water. Once activated it runs for a minimum of 90 days without interruption, and it can help locate flight recorder devices. The beacon has a watertight aluminum case, operates at depths of up to 20,000 feet, sustains pressure up to 8700 psi and is detectable at 2000 to 4000 yards. It produces 160 dB at 37.5 kHz, with pulses of about 10 ms roughly once per second, and the water switch is part of a low current triggering circuit. Listed approvals are TSO C121b and C142a. The beacon weighs 6.7 oz, the mount 6 oz, and the beacon is 1.30 in in diameter. Hazmat charges may apply.
