Mooney Aircraft produces the fastest certified single-engine piston aircraft in the world. The M20 airframe is a low-drag, efficient four-place that has been in production in one variant or another since 1955. Mooney-specific maintenance items
- Main-gear rubber donuts — the Mooney shock absorber is a stack of rubber biscuits; replacement interval varies with operation.
- Nose-gear truss — inspect per Mooney service letter.
- Fuel bladder / sealant — older Mooneys used rubber bladders; later aircraft use wet-wing sealant that eventually needs re-sealing.
- Propeller governor — McCauley or Hartzell depending on variant.
Part-number format
Most Mooney P/Ns follow a NNNNNN-NNN structure. Cross-reference is often required between early and late service-letter revisions.
