Description

The KNI 582 from Bendix is a dual needle RMI that lowers pilot workload by showing three pieces of information at once. Its two needles display directional or non-directional radio navigation data, selected with push buttons on the front of the unit, while the compass card shows the aircraft's magnetic heading using information from the compass system. This version, manufacturer part number 066-03060-0000, has a black bezel with 27.5 VDC/26 VAC lighting. It accepts AC sine/cosine, DC sine/cosine, serial and VOR composite inputs, works with NAV and ADF receivers, and is used alongside compass systems and NAV indicators. The unit is TSO'd. It weighs 3 lb, measures 3.25 x 3.25 x 8 in and runs on 11 to 33 VDC at up to 400 mA.
