The XMD 157 XM Weather Data Receiver contributes significantly to situational awareness and provides unique lateral and vertical weather avoidance by allowing the pilot to overlay a flight plan on all graphical weather images, pan and zoom into specific areas of interest and gather more detailed information. There is no need to request data or wait for a reply, because the XMD157 provides the most recent information available by automatically updating the weather data even if it's not being viewed.
